SECOND ANNUAL WHEATLEY SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION NYC LUNCH
The aforesaid event took place on January 9, 2014, at Trattoria Trecolori, in the heart of the Manhattan Theater District, from noon to 3:00. Fifty-three attendees (more than double the “First” such event), stretching from the Class of 1961 to the Class of 1984, braved the elements (sunny but cold) to mix and mingle, see and be seen, reminisce, catch up, look forward, eat, drink, and be merry. Attendance was taken: the Classes of 1963 and 1966, each with seven members present, edged out the Class of 1967, with six. Food was served buffet style and was adjudged fairly good. Graduates Keith Aufhauser (1963) and Art Engoron (1967) photographed the proceedings, as did a former professional photographer, Victor Duran, who volunteered his services as a favor to Art. The results of their efforts are being distributed via e-mail and/or posted on line. Donna Kenton and Marianne Lamitola Downey (both 1963) staffed the check-in table, which had name tags, a surprisingly accurate list of expected attendees, and a questionnaire (from which valuable contact information was obtained). Several people said they would e-mail the information requested thereon (but none did). The “suggested contribution” of $35 per person almost covered expenses (the shortfall is being absorbed anonymously). Jay Hack (1969) brought some fine wine (and graciously paid the corkage fee). Siblings Carol (1961) and Rick (1966) Jalonack, Art (1967) and Dan (1973) Engoron, and Peter (1981) and Andrew (1984) Kirwin were present, as were cousins Michele Sklaire Jacobson (1964) and Mitch Stephens (1967) and Gary (1963) and Steve (1972) Krakauer. One married couple, Dan and Sara Weiss Engoron, both 1973, figured prominently in the proceedings. Eight lawyers, four people originally from Carriage Lane, and four from Bengeyfield Drive showed up. Somebody left his or her keys behind, which the restaurant may still be holding. The organizers are contemplating a similar event for 2015, at around the same time of year. Here’s the Honor Roll:
